In Indian Culture there are 16 rituals related to Human life and

This extensive site is located in an area of about 10 sq. km. encompassing
the villages of Kannewada, Sorar, Nahanda and Karkabhat. Karkabhat
is located 16 from Balod on Balod-Dhamtari Road. It is spread on
both sides of the road. Several megalithic types are present here.
Menhirs of different sizes and shapes are still lying in finished
and unfinished conditions. According to Dr. A.K. Sharma an estimated
3500 to 4000 megalithic burials must have been present in this complex.
Majority of them are, however, wiped out.
Two habitation areas were located here. Also there are a number
of low rock shelters on a slowly rising granitic outcrops. There
are evidences to suggest that the shelters were probably under constant
use right from the Late Stone Age times since Microlithic tools
are also found in abundance in the general area. Apart from the
rock shelters there is an open air habitational area located at
Sorar. A ruined temple and a number of sculptures have been found
here. There are also some extensive mounds rising to a height of
4.50 m. The present village is located right on these mounds. Plenty
of potsherds, dating from megalithic period to historical period,
lie scattered all over the area. The fine black and red ware found
here suggests that it was a megalithic habitational site.
Three varieties of pottery, dagger blades, arrow heads, spikes,
spearheads, copper objects, gold objects, silver object, beads etc.
are found at Karkabhat and microliths, beads, ear–ornaments, hop-scotches,
iron objects, terracotta objects, bangles etc. are found in Sorar.
